About

GFViewer is a tool for visualizing the localization of multi-gene families across the genome of a given organism. It requires a gene-family data file (.xlsx/.csv/.tsv) containing gene family and location information for each gene and a genome sequence file (.fasta/.fna/.fa) or a chromosome-lengths file (.txt) for the same organism as inputs. As output, it generates a plot illustrating the precise locations of genes belonging to the same gene-family using unique colors specific to the corresponding gene-family.

This web-server hosts the online version of GFViewer, which is limited in its functionality compared to the full version. If you wish to explore all the features of GFViewer, please install the full version on a local Linux, Mac, or Windows machine. Alternatively, you may download the GitHub repository.

Creators

GFViewer including this web server, the GitHub repository, and the conda executable were developed by Sakshar Chakravarty (Ph.D. student, Computer Science) at the University of California, Riverside (UCR).
